Brother and Sister

‘Brother and Sister’ is a medium/large original oil painting on canvas, signed by the artist.

I paint children because they can exist on the canvas without all the politics and problems of adults. I paint from imagination but I try to bring the children to life with as much humanity and feeling as I can. I want the whole canvas to be as alive as possible, so I use intense colours and work and scrape and brush the paint with as much passion as I can. Putting more than one person in my pictures means I can explore and wonder what relationship the characters have. In this I tried to put love and protection between the two. Although this is not a portrait, I have a son and daughter about this age and my artist’s mind is full of their wee looks.
